Bill Standish
Description
As a business and accounting major, Bill has spent most of his career in management, budgeting and finance, to include a few years in real estate. He also has master’s degree credits in special education and psychology.
Bill’s hobby is singing barbershop harmony with the Newyorkers Chorus in Poughkeepsie, as well as with the Dover Boys quartet, as a baritone. His years singing barbershop harmony inspired him to create a youth music program, HarmonyFest, drawing high school students from the greater Hudson Valley school districts, over a four-year period. Following the HarmonyFest productions, Bill was able to take his quartet into regional high schools, mentoring students in the history of the barbershop music genre and providing time to teach students to sing in the barbershop style.
Bill has served his chorus as President, and currently as marketing/advertising agent, Treasurer, and youth-in-music coordinator. He currently works with the Washingtonville Cemetery Committee, Kiwanis of Washingtonville, and has recently joined the Board of Directors of the Blooming Grove Chamber of Commerce.
