Recently, we checked in with Sunstone Sanctuary owner, Jenni DeLillo to see how her first year in business has gone in our community. Read more about her journey and her beautiful sanctuary below.
1. How has business been for your first year?
The first year has had it ups and downs of course as expected. Being a mother of 4 and taking the leap leaving Corp America after 20 years has had its stressful moments. I am grateful for the support I’ve received from my collective of ever-growing practitioners as well as my husband and children. My business is continuing to grow, but my tenacity wants everything yesterday!
2. How has the community reception been to the new space?
I have a beautiful community that encompasses people from all over the tri-state area. They have been unwavering in their support and I’m grateful to have them as part of our wellness tribe. Our neighbors, friends and local business owners of Washingtonville & Blooming Grove have welcomed SUNSTONE with open arms, curiosity and warmth.
3. Did you have any surprising successes this year?
We had several people drive over 3 hours to attend unique workshops. Our out of the box thinking style has proven to be a success. We were able to have various wellness events sponsored enabling us to offer classes to veterans, first responders and the active military community at no cost to them. This is something that has always been a part of my vision for SUNSTONE, and I am elated we were able to accomplish this year 1.
4. Likewise, did you have any surprising challenges?
I am very active on social media and people still do not know SUNSTONE is here. Although located in a beautiful historic barn, the signage and road visibility is a challenge on RT 94, especially when it comes to the retail aspect of our business. The misconception is you need a wellness appointment in order to shop our boutique. What I would love to bring awareness to, is that we are a beautiful crystals and wellness boutique that offers a relaxing retail experience anytime. We have a beautifully curated selection of items such teas, oils, jewelry, crystals, and more that make for a beautiful gift! Holiday shopping is a must! Word of mouth is very important to us as we seek to organically grow by people sharing their positive experiences and the impact our offerings have had on their lives.
5. Any new changes planned for the next year?
This year we are planning to focus on corporate wellness, networking events and renting the space for retreats and private gatherings. We have an event & design curating team to help bring your vision to life, whether it be a small intimate wedding, baby shower, birthday or various special events. In addition to this facet of our business, we offer weekly events for children and adults. Another focus is bringing more live music to SUNSTONE. As an artist and musician, music is an important part of my family’s life and we seek to continue to host intimate curated, live music events as well. Our first one will be held on October 25th and we very much look forward to hosting the wonderful Natalie Forteza and Kat Selman. Visit the website to see all of Sunstone’s Upcoming events
